Just a couple rough sketches for an upcoming storyline. I hope you like ping pong.

I don’t have any sketches today sorry. I thought it might be neat to see what a couple of the recent comics looked like minus the word balloons. I thought both of these had some cool stuff that just ended up getting covered up.

Another Link warm up sketch this morning. His face came out kind of wonky but I still like it.

Kiko has added his logo and we have a finished book cover.

I got carried away with the colors and forgot to make another post. Sometimes when I'm working I just sort of space out. I was having a lot of fun with this one.

Someone in the previous thread suggested that it just be a regular bird and I thought that was awesome. So I took out the crazy bird and just made it a pigeon. I think it’s much funnier this way so thanks for the idea.

Honestly I’m not sure if I even want to touch the background. Kiko just came in and told me it’s done and I trust his opinion a lot. He’s going to work on the logo now. When he has something I’ll post it here.

Got the inks on Gabe and Tycho pretty much done. I'll post another once I finish a few more details and the bird.

I need to get the cover for our fourth book done today and I thought I might let you guys watch the process. The title for the book is “Birds are Weird” and this is the sketch I came up with last night. I scanned it in this morning and my next step will be to ink it. Once that’s done I’ll pass it over to Kiko to design a logo for the title and I’ll work on the colors. I’ll keep posting updates during the day.

I Had to ink my Balthier sketch from yesterday. I tried to fix some of the problems like the giant hands and stuff.

Sorry for the lack of updates. A lot of the work I’ve been doing lately is for the PA game and I can’t show any of it yet. I did this in my sketchbook this morning though. My favorite character from FFXII. Hopefully I’ll have some more time this week. I’d love to do Fran, Basch and Montblanc.

I decided to ink my Boba Fett sketch from last week. If you’re interested in seeing the process I captured the entire thing. It might be hard to see but all I’m doing is laying down my inks on a new layer above the sketch. I’m using a Wacom Tablet with the pressure sensitivity set a little on the firm side.

If you’re at work you might want to turn the volume down. I dropped a song into this video so it wouldn’t be so boring and it’s got some bad language.

This was just supposed to be a warm up sketch but I liked it so I kept futzing with it. I’m working on a big piece for Wired magazine today but if I finish early I may try and color this.

This is part of a piece I did for a friend’s nursery. They have a new baby on the way and I wanted to do something cool they could put up in his room. I was going for a sort of Tim Burton meets Winnie the Pooh style.

The top most pic is my warm up sketch from this morning. These are about ten minute sketches just to get me drawing when I first get into the office. I don’t worry much about anatomy or composition with these. I’m really just trying to warm up.

I started playing around with markers this weekend. I’d like to get better with them. Right now they don’t make a lot of sense to me. I have to do a lot of concept art for the Penny Arcade game and I thought it would be a fun challenge to try and do it all in traditional mediums. We’ll see how well that goes.

The White Ninja sketch is from the guest comic we did. The Assassins Creed sketch is just a warm up I did this morning.

A few people asked how I did the light bloom effect. Here is a quick video showing the steps. A new layer above the drawing is created and then filled in with black. The layer property is changed to “screen” and then I use the airbrush tool around the edges of the character. Pick a nice light color and think about how the light would break around the form.

I had some free time today and I thought about how long it had been since I did some good old fashioned fan art. So I thought about what games I am most excited for and then I sat down and whipped this up.
