This was just supposed to be a warm up sketch but I liked it so I kept futzing with it. I’m working on a big piece for Wired magazine today but if I finish early I may try and color this.

Please do.
It's always cool to see other characters in your style.
Very nice. You should color him just to finish it off. He has an intersting color scheme that varies from artist to artist. I noticed that when I was working on a drawing of him with Voltron.
not bad mange. not bad at all. in fact it's so not bad, that it's good. I love the shape of the head. vury, vury nice. I'd like to see it inked. color would be fun as well.
Everything is off alignment, his chest plate faces a completely different direction than his legs, his arms are two different lengths with the shorter of the two being very very funky as his shoulder is slanted. The armor looks wacky as all hell and his lower leg is longer than his upper leg. All in all, just redo it before you colorize.
Boba looks great there, Gabe. Someone ought to email Karen and let her know.
Kato - Boba's Wookiee scalps are on his right shoulder, which is facing away from us in that picture. They're in the crease between his pectoral plate and his upper arm and under his cape. It's a matter of perspective.
Dark Knight - Jango had a set of armor with full cuisses (thigh plates) and greaves (shin and calf); Boba has the large pocketed fatigues bloused into low boots like a paratrooper, with armored kneepads.
Boba's stance is easily replicable in person. The picture accounts for perspective, giving it depth, instead of being a flat bas-relief. Boba's left leg is at 12 o'clock, his torso turned toward 1-2 o'clock, his head and right foot to 3-4 o'clock. It's a relaxed but ready stance to move or fight from.
'Oy, just gotta say I dig it bunches. Your style is always fun and loose, but I think this particular piece could stand to be more dynamic, as right now you've got a lot of contradicting jagged lines that don't really lead anywhere, man. All in all, I'm sure it'll kick ass no matter what you do with it, though.
Ever been to ConceptArt.Org? Lots of professionals from different fields hang around on the forums there. Y'might enjoy it.
I hope you have time to color it Mike, because that's a pretty damn cool Fett drawing. If you don't end up coloring could you at least post the inks so the rest of us can have a stab at it? :)
It's funny, Scott Kurtz called me after I put this up and told me Boba Fett sucks. He said Boba did nothing but stand around and look stupid. I asked if he liked Han Solo and he said "of course, Han is awesome". I said "well Boba Fett turned him into a paper weight" :)
SPOILER WARNINGS FOR BLOODLINES.
I don't want to spoil anything for people not finished with Bloodlines yet. But I will say I was hoping Boba would have chosen a more uh...hands on approach to dealing with Jacen. Tycho and I argued about this for a while but I gotta say, I think Boba could take him.
It's the whole "could batman beat superman" question. Experience and brains vs. raw power. Boba vs. Jacen could be one hell of a fight.
I agree, Gabe. While Jacen has power, can he deal with Boba Fetts honed ability, and experience. I personaly think that Boba would win, but this may just be bias because I always hated Jacen. Boba is in my opinion the best meshed out Star Wars charcter.
You call that nerding out? I once had a massive argument withh a freind over what was the best sci-fi out of Stargate SG-1, Star Wars, and Star Trek. I was going for Star Trek, but I still enjoy Star Wars. In the end, we came to one point and one only: That Stargate Atlantis sucked. And this was an on/off argument that went for three days.
And Batman doesn't have anywhere NEAR the firepower that Mr. Fett carries on a daily basis, much less when he goes hunting for Jedi. Fett mentions having many lightsaber trophies - he didn't get those at the swap meet, people.
I just wonder if a blind guy is going to come up to him and beat him as bad as Han Solo did. Yes, I went there. Boba Fett and his family of degenerate clone family are among the saddest creations ever.

This is great art. I'm a Uk school teacher in Art (grades 3-7)... When how and who got you into this style of drawing. I know some kids who'd love to practise this style, and I'd love to encourage them.
hubba hubba. I hope lucas is reading this blog, seeing as he's got nothing much else to do. might as well hire you to take care of another animated series than start that crappy TV series about Luke's Adventures As A Lonely Teenage Boy.
To be fair, Vader is the one that turned Han into a paperweight, against Fett’s wishes I might add. All Fett did was lead Vader to the Falcon. He also died a 3 Stooges styled death, and the only reason he’s back is because Lucas gave into fanboyism and let them make it so in the expanded universe his armor saved him from the Sarlac pit.
I’m not saying the character isn’t cool. I’m saying he was poorly written in the films.

My god, man, where are his braided Wookie scalps?
Please color that and make it into a wallpaper. Bobba Fett is awsome and needs a sweet wallpaper.
That is ridiculously rad.

I don't like it; Link and the Assasin are WAY better...
I am jazzed to see that you are consistantly updating this. Keep it up man.
i want to make love to you
... and your art.
i'd buy a color one
Would love to see it colored and on a black background...perfect wallpaper...
I like this, but I have to pose a simple question: Is it Boba or Jango?
One word: instantwallpaperclassic
It's just one or two finishing touches ahead plus a dark background... perhaps a planet or stars in the backdrop? pretty please with ice cream on top?
Mad props even if you don't get to finish it.
Don't listen to the haters -- looks nice.
It looks perfect and would clean up very well for the transition to color!

I am not normally one to beg, but I beg of you good sir to fashion this into some sort of a wallpaper if you have the time.
Seems like a lot of calls for wallpaper. Kudos again for some great work.
Anyone else see Star Wars Animated Series Season 3: The Chrnonicles of Boba Fett?
Your work ceases to amaze, looking forward to the Wired piece.
Tiny shout out from Shanghai, China haha.

And pardon for speaking like a know it all; those are just my thoughts when I looked at the picture.
Sorry, ought to let the artist speak for himself.

James,
I thought that was a reference to Wednesday's comic on her blog, not this particular piece... I may have missed it, though.
I hope you have time to color it Mike, because that's a pretty damn cool Fett drawing. If you don't end up coloring could you at least post the inks so the rest of us can have a stab at it? :)
You're doing something for Wired Magazine?
Don't feed the evil that is News Corp, Gabe!
Haha, I'm so glad he likes it.

It reminds me of an awesome Fett I bought from this guy Rak

I bet that would make for an awesome wallpaper if coloured in. So Bloodlines is a good read then eh?
Gabe, i need a wall of that jam you did with the guy that makes usugi!
you showed us at pax and i took a photo. i love it to death.

Oh now that is just adorable! I bet he's totally standing in front of something on flames with that "let the fuggers burn" kind of attitude of his.
He's one of my heroes... :)

This actually a dumb thought. Possibly even cliched all to hell and gone...
...but, Gabe, I'd like to see you take on Grievous. Your angles that everyone's bitching about here would be EXTREMELY apropos for GG.
(Not that the Fett sketch isn't a beaut.)
Your artwork makes me happy... I just would like to put that out there...
Cool, do you paint as well?

I really like your style. Very impressive.
If I try something like this it always ended up in a catastrophy.
Well done on making Blogs of Note -- enjoy the tidal wave of adoring comments. And the Fett looks cool -- very louche.
