This is a sketch of Katara from Avatar. It's for a piece I did for Kara's birthday. We're both huge Avatar fans.

Avatar is an amazing show, the animation and story are just incredible compared to other current shows. I would love to see this inked and colored.

As always, you've done an amazing job!

After buying Season 1 sight unseen, we (me, daughter & son) all became Huge fans of Ang & co. Ended up devouring Season 02 immediately after.

Excellent work (as always)!!

I don't like Avatar but this picture is great.

I never would've pegged you as an Avatar fan! Regardless, the picture is well done; I only hope we could see it inked and colored.

I don't know how you feel about the impending Season 3, but I personally can't wait.

Too me, this looks like one of your best sketches to date. Can't wait to see it finished.

heh, truthfully I was gonna try commenting differently from everyone else by offering some critique...but there's nothing wrong with the picture! Bah!

lol, good job man.

This sketch is great! I became addicted to the show ever since a college buddy introduced me to it.

You know, if you ever had time to do an art book, filled with sketches and fully-polished pieces, I'd totally buy it. Your art has progressed so far in even just the time you've been a presence online, and particularly within the last couple years.

I know it might seem ludicrous to you, but you've gotten to the point where kids will be copying things they see you do in order to learn themselves, and that's a great thing.

Love the sketch, it really has this feeling of complete idle relaxation that carries your style really well

I was just wondering; is there any chance you might make a post about your whole process of making a piece of art, from start to finish?

I'd love to find out more about how you do what you do.

you did pretty awesome making it actually look like its from the show, while still kind of being in your style.

Hello! How is it you do your sketches Gabe?
Do you still use a tablet pc with a Sketchbook Pro setup, or do you sketch straight into Photoshop using a wacom tablet these days?

What do you use & what settings do you use on it specifically for sketching? I'm dying to find out as i've had an unsatisfactory time of it trying to find a decent setup for straight-sketching into Sketchbook (2.0) & am thinking of looking into getting a dedicated sketching tablet-pc, & want to find what setup would be optimal for it (i.e. yours, as i love your art-style :P specifically with free-hand sketching)

Never seen the show, but the drawing is simply amazing (as always!).

I'm a big fan of PA and I love your drawing style.

Hey, I really love the Penny Arcade comic...big BIG Fan. Your expressions always match the dialogue perfectly. Great stuff overall basically. I also like the avatar series, their animation is extremely fluid and the martial arts is actually realistic.

I was once regaled with tales of a man who would descend down from high above. He would bring with him updates and drawings. Throughout my journey in life I would pass along the tales of such a man, "if only he existed" I would think to myself.
